Since Thursday, 12 teams have been working hard to create the most beautiful snow sculpture in the center of Nuuk, just outside the Katuaq cultural center.
Project manager for Nuuk Snow Fest, Jørgen Spring, informs Sermitsiaq that there are between 4 and 8 participants on each team, and in addition there have been 20 volunteers who have helped make the event work.
He says that Nuuk Snow Fest has again been a hit this year:
- Every day we have had a lot of visitors from the public, who have followed the development of the cubes from large white cubes to fine sculptures. It is great to see so many guests, both big and small, and it is wonderful to see the little ones in the eyes when they see a sculpture they think is beautiful, says Jørgen Spring.
On Sunday, the decision was made, and the winner was a French team; Rouges Gorges. Second place went to the team Clanker Slayyyers, and third place was the team Pingajussaa.
The audience award also went to the French team.
Jørgen Spring says that the sculptures will be on display next week, so there is plenty of time to enjoy the sculptures.
Nuuk Snow Fest is organized by Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq in collaboration with the Bank of Greenland and Airgreenland. In addition, many other companies have contributed, including RAL, Pisiffik and Nanoq FM.
Jørgen Spring expects the success of the snow festival to continue, so that it will also be held in 2027.
