This afternoon at 2 p.m., the President of the Greenlandic Government, Jens-Frederik Nielsen (D), will hold a press conference for the international press.

The press conference will be in Katuaq in Nuuk.

The latest statements from US President Donald Trump are likely to be significant. After a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte yesterday, Trump said that a framework has been developed for a future agreement on Greenland.

We don't yet know what the agreement actually contains.

Trump has been very vague about specific content in Davos, but he has stated, among other things, that the agreement "gives us everything we want. Including national and international security."

Prime Minister: Only Denmark and Greenland can make decisions

Donald Trump has said that negotiations are underway for "total access" to Greenland. However, the US already has quite broad limits on its presence in Greenland.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (Social Democracy) has said that there have been no negotiations on the sovereignty of Denmark and Greenland. She did not attend the meeting, but has been in regular contact with Mark Rutte. She states that only Denmark and Greenland will be able to make decisions regarding Greenland and Denmark.

However, Jens-Frederik Nielsen called the press conference before this statement from Donald Trump came out.

On Friday, the Foreign Policy Committee in the Folketing will hold a meeting at 5:00 a.m. Greenlandic time, where the topic is "the kingdom's relationship with the United States."
