Jens-Frederik Nielsen (D), chairman of Naalakkersusiut, recently spoke at the Greenlandic New Year's Eve party in Copenhagen.

His points revolved around much of what he and other politicians have said before: That it is important that we stand together in these times, that Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and will not be owned by the United States.

- Greenland will not be owned by the United States. Greenland will not be governed or controlled by the United States. Greenland will not be part of the United States. We choose the Greenland we know today - as part of the Kingdom of Denmark. That is a statement that cannot be mistaken, he says.

This is Jens-Frederik Nielsen's first New Year's Eve as chairman of Naalakkersuisut, following the election to Inatsisartut in March last year.

The last few days have been hectic for Greenlanders. Yesterday was the long-awaited meeting between the foreign ministers of the United States, Greenland and Denmark, where the US Vice President, J.D. Vance, was also present.

Also yesterday it emerged that Denmark and several NATO allies are sending troops to Greenland. Including Sweden, Norway, Germany, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands and Finland.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and several other politicians will be present at the New Year's Eve party.
