Medicine stolen from hospital - officer pursued and filmed in his spare time

On Tuesday at 12:30 p.m., the Greenland Police received a report of the theft of medicine from the hospital in Maniitsoq.

Chief of Police Aputsiaq Hansen states that the police tracked down a suspect at the person's address.

The police conducted a search here and managed to find some of the stolen medicine.

The suspect, an adult woman, was charged in the case and subsequently released.

- Subsequent case processing and possible further investigation are pending, says Aputsiaq Hansen about the case.

Officer pursued

Later on Tuesday at 6:43 p.m., the police received a report from an off-duty officer. According to the report, the officer was pursued, shouted at and filmed by a man.

Aputsiaq Hansen says that the man was arrested and later released after questioning.

The police believe that the officer was being pursued by the man because of his job, and the incident is now being investigated further.

A number of alcohol-related incidents

Aputsiaq Hansen says that the police have also received a number of reports within the following categories in the past 24 hours:

These include reports of violence, burglary, suicide threats, evictions, domestic disturbances, drunks and vandalism.

- Most are alcohol-related tasks, says Aputsiaq Hansen.

He says that these tasks have left their mark on the police's work recently. Over the weekend, the police responded to over 200 incidents within these categories.
