The Greenland Minerals informs that in yet another case, an order has been made that Greenland Minerals/Energy Transition Minerals must pay legal costs to the Greenland Self-Government.
This time, it is the Copenhagen City Court that has awarded the Self-Government an amount of DKK 560,000 for legal costs incurred in a case that Greenland Minerals A/S had filed against several parts of Naalakkarsuisut, Inatsisartut and the Greenland Self-Government as such.
At the same time, the company had also filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities in Denmark.
In November 2025, however, the district court refused to hear the case as far as all Greenlandic parties were concerned.
Naalakkersuisoq: Bad strategy with lawsuits filed right and left
Naalakkersuisoq Naaja H. Nathanielsen (IA) states that she is very satisfied with the decision:
- It was of course expected that we would be awarded legal costs in the case when it was dismissed by the court. But the amount is relatively high, since the case has only been about whether the case could even be brought in Copenhagen.
- I believe that the relatively high amount is due to the court's assessment that the lawsuit filed was far over the top. Greenland Minerals has sued right and left and this has now proven to be a bad strategy in 2 cases, says Nathanielsen in a press release.
The announcement of the ruling comes after the Greenland Government announced on Monday that the arbitration court has ruled that Greenland Minerals must pay DKK 14.4 million to the self-government for legal costs in the arbitration case.
