The young man who was found murdered in Block 5 had a twin brother. This brother was called as a witness in the district court on Tuesday afternoon to tell about events around the time of the murder in October 2024.

– We were very close to each other throughout our childhood, the victim's brother said via video from Sisimiut.

Before his brother's death, the two met at the hostel, the surviving brother said. He did not have much to say about the accused 42-year-old man and had not visited Block 5 around the time of the murder.

However, he knew the previously mentioned man, who is still of interest to the prosecution, but who has not been charged and therefore will not appear in court.

– He was often with my brother, they smoked and drank together, the witness said.

According to the witness, the man in question said something about blood on a stone. However, the testimony was occasionally unclear and a challenge to understand for those present in court.

Another witness withdraws

In any case, it is clear that the young deceased had significant problems in his life. This included not only homelessness, but also mental illness and alcohol and marijuana abuse.

This is evident, among other things, from the extensive documentation that Deputy Prosecutor Aprilia Jespersen presents among the many witnesses.

Tuesday's last witness was taken off the program again. This is again a witness in the second case. In addition to a murder in Block 5, the 42-year-old main character of the case is also charged with violence against a woman in Nuussuaq in July 2024.

However, earlier in the day it turned out that the woman cannot remember her own report, and this afternoon the prosecutor also dropped the second witness in the case.

This is because the witness was not in a suitable condition to give evidence.
