It is important to be careful when lighting candles, says Greenland Police Chief Aputsiaq Hansen.

The reminder comes after the police received a report on Wednesday 09:51 about a fire in clothing and an overhang in a wooden house in Maniitsoq.

It was probably a candle that started the fire.

"You have to think about it really carefully," says the duty officer.

It is not clear from the 24-hour report whether there were any injuries.

Violence reports

In addition to the fire, the police have also been called out to a number of cases in the last 24 hours. Including two reports of violence.

One was in Nuuk at 11:29 a.m. Wednesday, where a person was beaten and probably broke his cheekbone.

The second case was in Tasiilaq, where a person was hit in the head with an object three times. The police have a suspect in the case.

The Greenland Police are investigating and processing both cases.

In addition, there has been a report of psychological violence in Nuuk. The police have also received reports of domestic disturbance, vandalism and street disorder.
