Wooden house on fire after knocked over candle

The Greenland Police were called out to a number of cases in the last 24 hours, including fire and reports of violence.

Two people were subjected to violence in Nuuk and Tasiilaq over the last 24 hours.

It is important , that you take care when lighting candles, says chief of duty at the Greenland Police Aputsiaq Hansen.

The reminder comes after the police received a report about a fire in clothing and overhangs in a wooden house in Maniitsoq.

Presumably it was candles that started the fire.

- You have to think really hard, says the warden.

It does not appear from the 24-hour report whether there were any injuries.

Reports of violence

In addition to the fire, the police have also been called out to one number of cases in the last 24 hours. Including two reports of violence.

One was in Nuuk at 11.29 on Wednesday, where one person stayed beaten and probably broke his cheekbone.

The other case was in Tasiilaq where a person was beaten up an object three times in the head. The police have a suspect in the case.

The Greenland Police is investigating and conducting case processing on both cases.

In addition, there has been a report of psychological violence in Nuuk. Police have also received reports of domestic disturbances, vandalism and street disorder.
