A US delegation will participate in new talks on Monday evening in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

This was written by US President Donald Trump in a post on his social media Truth Social on Sunday.

He added in the post that the US is offering Iran a very "fair and reasonable" deal, and that he hopes the country will agree to it.

- If they do not do so, the US will destroy every power plant and every bridge in Iran. No more Mr. Good Guy, writes Trump.

It is US Vice President J.D. Vance and the two US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner who are traveling to Pakistan on behalf of the US to participate in the negotiations with Iran.

This was stated by a White House official according to Reuters.

Iran has not confirmed participation

Iran has not confirmed that there are talks in Pakistan on Monday. However, the Iranian news agency Tasnim reports that no decision has been made to send an Iranian delegation.

An Iranian delegation will not be sent "as long as there is a naval blockade," it says. Tasnim apparently refers to the US Navy's blockade of Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz.

In the post on Truth Social, Donald Trump addresses the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump writes that Iran fired shots into the Strait on Saturday, which he calls "a complete violation of our ceasefire agreement."

- Many of them were aimed at a French ship and a British cargo ship. That wasn't nice, was it?, writes the US president.

Accusing each other of ceasefire violations

While the US accuses Iran of violating the ceasefire, Iran also accused the US of the same on Sunday.

- The US's so-called "blockade" of Iranian ports or coastlines is not only a violation of the Pakistan-brokered ceasefire, but also both illegal and criminal, writes Esmaeil Baqaei, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, in a post on X.

The situation in the Strait of Hormuz has been characterized by a wide range of different statements over the weekend.

On Friday afternoon, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared the strait open.

And on Saturday, several media outlets reported that several ships had begun trying to sail through the strait.

However, later in the day, Iran had apparently changed its mind, citing the US's continued blockade of Iranian ports.

On Saturday evening, the Revolutionary Guard announced that a blockade of the strait would be in effect that evening, and that ships approaching would be targeted, CNN reported.

- Iran recently announced that it would close the strait, which is strange, because our blockade has already closed it, Trump wrote on Sunday.
