Two hashish finds at Nuuk Airport

The police have handled several cases around Greenland over the past 24 hours, including a violent assault in Nuussuaq, two drug cases at Nuuk Airport and burglaries in Qaanaaq and Uummannaq.

On Tuesday evening at 9:03 p.m., the police received a report of violence in Nuussuaq in Nuuk.

According to the police, a man knocked on the door of a residence and said he was from the police. When the resident opened the door, the man began to use violence against the person.

This is according to police chief Aputsiaq Hansen.

The police responded to the scene and arrested the suspect, who is described as an adult man. He has been charged with violence, but has since been released after questioning, as the police assess that he does not pose a further threat.

The police encourage citizens to contact the police if they experience similar situations – and emphasize that you can always call the police to confirm whether it is actually officers knocking on the door.

Large quantities of hashish found at Nuuk Airport

Customs officers made two finds of hashish on Tuesday in connection with arrivals from Denmark at Nuuk Airport.

In the first case, customs found 492 grams of hashish in a bag. The police were called and the suspect was arrested, who was subsequently charged in the case. The person has since been released.

Later that day at 1:24 p.m., the police were called again to the airport, where customs officers had found a larger quantity of hashish in a suitcase belonging to another passenger. The suspect was arrested, and the case is being investigated. The police say that the amount cannot yet be disclosed, as the person will be presented in court.

Burglary in Qaanaaq

The police are also investigating a burglary in a warehouse belonging to Pilersuisoq in Qaanaaq.

The burglary was reported on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., and beer cans were stolen from the warehouse. The police have not yet found the perpetrators.

Burglary in Uummannaq's leisure club - Again

In addition, another burglary has been reported in a leisure club in Uummannaq. This is the second time in two days that a burglary has been committed at the same location. The latest burglary was reported on March 10 at 11:30 AM. The police are now investigating the case and are happy to receive tips on the perpetrators.

The first incident took place between Sunday, March 8 and Monday, March 9.

Employee at Brugsenneeraq charged

Finally, the police have received a report of theft from a workplace in Qaqortoq.

The case concerns an employee at Brugsenneeraq in Qaqortoq, who is suspected of having stolen money from the cash register. The police know the identity of the suspect, who is described as an adult, and the case is being processed.
