Two men indicted for attempted murder

Two 24-year-old men are due to appear in the Qeqqa District Court in Sisimiut on Thursday and Friday. They are charged with attempting to kill another man at an address in Sisimiut on the morning of July 5, 2025.

This is stated in an indictment that Sermitsiaq has been given access to.

According to the indictment, the two men punched and kicked the victim several times in the head and body, hit him with a chair and held a pillow over his face until he had difficulty breathing.

One of the defendants allegedly said "Should I kill you now" to the victim.

The man suffered life-threatening injuries, including six broken ribs and a punctured lung. He survived with the help of life-saving first aid.

One 24-year-old man is also charged with witness intimidation, as after the incident he allegedly threatened violence if the victim reported the matter to the police, and said "if you report me to the police, I will attack you again."

10,000 kroner in compensation

In addition to the attempted murder incident, one man is also charged with committing violence against another person in Sisimiut early in the morning of May 10, 2025. He allegedly kicked the victim several times.

The prosecution is seeking four months of detention for both 24-year-old men.

Furthermore, if convicted, they must pay 10,000 kroner in compensation to the man whom, according to the prosecution, they tried to kill.

There will probably also be a compensation on top of that.

Both accused men are currently in custody.
