Patrick Frederiksen, Malik Mikaelsen, Rass Abelsen, Mikki Brønlund, John Pedersen and Alex Hermansen – six of Greenland’s most dedicated futsal instructors – were at school in Nuuk this past weekend. They completed the B1 course, which is the first part of a new and ambitious two-stage course that will raise the level of coaching education in Greenland.
The course is part of KAK's commitment to strengthening both the sporting and pedagogical quality of the country's futsal clubs. The six instructors play a central role in the development of futsal coaches and future talents in Greenland.
In 2025, KAK has already held courses in nine cities, and the demand for further education has grown significantly. The goal is that all club coaches should have access to relevant coaching education, adapted to their daily reality on the field.
- Interest is greater than ever before, and our instructors shoulder a huge responsibility. They help shape the coaches of the future and thus the futsal of the future, says KAK.
The instructors not only function as teachers, but also as mentors, cultural mediators and role models. Their mission is to inspire, create safe training environments and motivate coaches at all levels, while providing concrete tools for both training and matches.
KAK's commitment to coach education and the building of a strong team of instructors has the full support of the association's board. This is seen as a strategic investment that is crucial for the long-term development of Greenlandic sports.
As part of this development, KAK sees potential for futsal to eventually become part of primary school physical education. The association is ready to continue the dialogue with municipalities and educational institutions on this, provided there is political and administrative support.
Before the end of the year, KAK will launch two more instructor courses to ensure an even stronger instructor corps and expand the competencies of the growing network of futsal instructors.
