Historic price cut at Tusass:

While the prices of everything else are rising, Tusass is now going the opposite way with a historic price cut on their mobile subscriptions. The telecommunications giant is quintupling the data volume in their most popular subscription and is also lowering the maximum price for a mobile subscription from 699 kroner to 499 kroner

At a time when increased living costs are putting pressure on many, Tusass is choosing to go against the grain and significantly cut the prices of their mobile subscriptions. With the launch of completely new subscriptions, the telecommunications company is entering a new era where prices are aligned with modern standards and where the customer gets significantly more value for money. The most significant change is that the ceiling for what a private mobile subscription can cost is being lowered from 699 kroner to 499 kroner.

Anchored in Greenland for 100 years

Tusass is owned by the Greenlandic community, and with over 100 years of history, the telecommunications company is deeply rooted in the country. The decision to lower the prices stems precisely from this close connection to the citizens and a desire to give back to society at a time when the general cost of living is rising noticeably.

"As a company owned by the community and established for 100 years, we are deeply rooted in Greenland. We are very aware that we live in a time when the cost of living is rising and putting pressure on many households – both here and in the rest of the world," says Jonas Hasselriis, CEO of Tusass and continues:

"Precisely because we are Greenland's own telecommunications company, it is in our DNA to take responsibility and counteract the tendency for everything to constantly become more expensive. With this price reduction, we are giving citizens a noticeable financial helping hand in their everyday lives.

Five times more data for the same money

The new price structure is not just an adjustment, but a comprehensive upgrade of the products. The previous top product for 699 kroner is being completely eliminated, and instead the current most popular subscription – 20 GB for 499 kroner – the new standard for top performance.

That package is being increased to a full 100 GB, without the price changing. This means that customers will in practice get five times as much data for the same money.

"We're taking our most popular product and making it five times stronger. By offering 100 gigabytes at the same price as 20 GB, we ensure that Greenlandic consumers have access to data in an amount that matches modern demands for streaming, work and education," says Runo Fencker-Noahsen, Product Manager at Tusass.

The youngest users are also included in the new catalogue. The largest children's subscription will get a 7 GB boost, so that in the future you will get 10 GB of data for the same 149 kroner.

The fruit of massive investments

That Tusass can now present such extensive improvements is the result of a years-long strategy focused on future-proofing the country's digital foundation.

"This historic initiative has been made possible by many years of targeted investments in our infrastructure. We have worked intensively to strengthen the stability and robustness of our network, including through work on the new redundant submarine cable, a major upgrade of our mobile capacity in large parts of the country, and an ongoing upgrade to 5G," says Jonas Hasselriis, CEO of Tusass, and continues:

"We have now reached a point where we see the financial and technical results of these investments, and we believe it is only fair that our customers benefit from these benefits immediately.

The new subscriptions are being rolled out nationwide and will be available everywhere, regardless of whether you live in a big city or a small town. However, not everyone will have access to 5G, as it requires local 5G coverage. However, all basic data packages and prices are the same for all users.

Security and more news on road

In addition to the new prices and more data, Tusass continues to work to increase security for Greenlandic users, which is important at a time when cyber threats are increasing worldwide.

The launch date for the new subscriptions is May 4. Tusass is making sure that the transition is as simple as possible for customers, as many will be automatically migrated to the new, better terms. But the news doesn't stop there.

"This is just the beginning of a series of improvements to our products. We are not finished optimizing our offer to our customers, and later this year we expect to be able to unveil improvements to our internet subscriptions," concludes Runo Fencker-Noahsen.
