In a time of increasing and tougher competition, Pisiffik maintains its focus on creating value in Greenland – for customers, employees and society as a whole.
This is the announcement from Per Steen Larsen, CEO of the company in connection with the publication of the 2025 financial statements.
Pisiffik is Greenland's largest retail and foodservice player with 54 stores along the west coast. Revenue in 2025 was a record and amounted to almost 1.6 billion kroner compared to almost 1.5 billion kroner the year before.
The 2025 result lands at a profit of almost 34.7 million kroner after tax compared to 18.7 million kroner in 2024.
Major investments
Over the past five years, Pisiffik and its owners have invested 283 million kroner in developing the company. At the same time, the company has contributed 1.3 billion kroner in taxes and duties to Greenlandic society over the five years.
Pisiffik is working long-term to develop a robust business that both creates value and actively contributes to society through investments, jobs and tax payments.
- We are proud of the overall contribution we make to Greenlandic society. This is done both through investments, jobs and significant taxes and duties. At the same time, we have a number of new investments on the way, which will help create further development, says Per Steen Larsen.
Ambition: All bread and cakes must be produced in Greenland
He mentions a specific example of investments. It is the establishment of a new central bakery in Nuuk, where bread and pastries are currently produced locally for shops along the coast. This provides both higher quality and is an important step towards increased self-sufficiency, reducing dependence on imports and making the supply more stable.
The ambition is clear: By 2026, all bread and cakes in Pisiffik's bakeries will be produced in Greenland.
At the same time, KK Engros, which is owned and operated by Pisiffik, is experiencing a significant development with more customers and increased turnover, and in Qaqortoq the growth is very positive. The growth is driven, among other things, by tourism and the development around the new airport.
- We prioritize local investments because it strengthens both the business and the communities we are a part of. It develops local competences, strengthens our position and makes us better able to exploit new opportunities, among other things in line with increasing tourism. At the same time, it creates a pride in the organization that we can do it ourselves to a greater extent, says Per Steen Larsen.
Employs around 800
Pisiffik currently employs around 800 employees across the country and works purposefully with well-being, education and development.
A key initiative is the mentoring program, which gives young people a safe entry into the labor market.
At the same time, top management has implemented a targeted process with a focus on putting people first.
According to the director, this is a direction that must now be anchored and felt throughout the entire organization as part of the work to strengthen both culture and management in the company.
Developing stores
In recent years, Pisiffik has carried out extensive development of both stores and concepts. Several stores in Nuuk have been modernized, and in Sisimiut, a new store building has brought together activities and created new jobs.
At the same time, the company has strengthened its digital development with solutions that create real value in everyday life. Pisiffik now has around 26,000 members, who earn points across concepts and use them directly in their daily purchases.
The work with data and digital tools has also created concrete results in operations. Food waste has been reduced from 1.31 percent to 0.92 percent of turnover in just one year. The goal is to reach 0.60 percent.
At the same time, new webshop solutions are being developed for both KK and Pisiffik, which will eventually make it even easier to shop throughout the country.
