Influence on police work in Qaanaaq

The police in Qaanaaq have found that fewer alcohol-related cases have arisen because people cannot buy beer at Pilersuisoq in Qaanaaq. This gives them the opportunity to focus on other things, the police say.

- We have noticed a drastic decrease in the number of alcohol-related cases, writes Julie Elmelund, communications officer at the Greenland Police.

The police also say that Qaanaaq is a peaceful town, but it can be busy for the police at times.

In Qaanaaq, weekends are marked by housebreaking and sexual crimes, writes Julie Elmelund.
