Naalakkersuisoq for Education, Culture, Sports and Church, Nivi Olsen (D), was moved when she presented gifts and flowers to Noah Mølgaard, when a reception was held on Friday to mark his 35th anniversary.
It is indeed an impressive CV that Noah Mølgaard has built up in sports reporting over the years.
Broadcasts and publications
As a sports journalist, Noah Mølgaard has covered 15 Arctic Winter Games, 35 Greenland Championships, three World Handball Championships, the Island Games, Avannaata Qimussersua, the Junior World Championship, and much more related to sports in Greenland.
He has also published several books, including the football book "Kalaallit Nunaanni isikkamik-arsaalluuni pissartanngorniunneq" in 2022 and the bilingual joke book "Koor´- Hold da op, mand", which was published in 2018, while Noah Mølgaard was working at Mediehuset SermitsiaqAG.
– I was surprised that they wanted to mark my anniversary. I consider it my job, but I'm glad that it has meant something to other people. Sports have always been a big part of my life, and I've loved communicating sports to others, says Noah Mølgaard, who grew up in Ilulissat, and who has always done a lot of sports himself, works as a coach and has sat on various association boards.
Do you have a favorite sport?
– Every sport has its charm. When you go from handball to football or to Arctic sports and dog sledding, you see that each of them can do something special. But since I grew up in Ilulissat and have had a dog team myself, Avannaata Qimussersua is close to my heart, says Noah Mølgaard, who continues with his sports broadcasts and transmissions on KNR, but who is also working to find one or more replacements who want to take sports reporting seriously.
– I took over the baton from Hjalmar Berglund myself, and it is my task to pass it on at some point.
In addition to Nivi Olsen, the Minister of Finance, Aqqaluaq B. Egede (IA), and the Minister of Social Affairs, Labour Market, Families and Internal Affairs, Maritha Broberg (A), as well as several from the world of sports, including the chairman of GIF, Claus Nielsen, and former chairman of GIF, Nuka Kleemann, who is currently the head of the department in the Department of Education, Culture, Sports and Church, were also present at the reception.
