Saturday dinner got the book borrowers and other visitors to Aalborg's main library quite a bit surprising and unexpected experience.

In the middle of the square the large building of brick and concrete stood Rosa Olsen, flaying a seal.

Many of them passers-by stopped to watch.

- The children were a lot curious and eagerly followed Rosa Olsen's work on the floor, says Pia Barlaj from Det Grønlandske Hus in Aalborg, who is a project employee in the school service.

- On the other hand, it was there some of the adult spectators who wrinkled their noses at the smell. And there it was also some of the adults who were a bit outraged and think it was a shame for them the useful seal pup.

Library full with Greenland

1000 buns, 50 packs of butter and 80 cake men were purchased for Denmark's largest Kaffemik.

The step up was one part of Denmark's Largest Kaffemik, like the Greenlandic House in Aalborg quite immodestly called the event that filled the library most of the day.

Here you could among other things experience a large number of lectures and presentations about Greenland - among others Julie Rademacher, Ivalu Olivia Skinnebach and Carl Florian Sørensen. There was also drum dance with Inuanima and exhibition of artworks by Coco Lynge and Nikoline Sørensen, workshop with beads - and then there was an opportunity to get the roof a "Selfie".

1300 Visitors

The many lectures and presentations gathered many listeners and created lively debate.

It was all organized by the School Service in Greenland House and North Jutland National Library in close collaboration.

The arrangement was a success. During the day there were 1,300 visitors.

- It passed our wildest expectations, says Pia Barlaj.

- The librarians said that there had never been so many visitors at one time in the library.

- It was one big rate. I was flabby enough to call it "Denmark's biggest Kaffemik", and I took the chance to buy 1000 buns, 50 packs of butter and 80 cake men. But everything was eaten - and everyone had a pleasant day. So it's not lie when we call it Denmark's largest Kaffemik.

- There are savages number, but it is surpassed by the coverage on social media, where the videos from the event was viewed more than 25,000 times.

- The cafe knows the library has never had such a turnover to date - they had two brownies left, says Pia Barlaj.

A big one challenge

Aviaja Lumholt and Igor Rado performed with drum dance and music. In the background, Mother of the Sea – a painting made by Nikoline Sørensen, who works in the Greenland House in Aalborg.

The project manager can also report that the biggest challenge at the event was the self-cleaning. Because that sort of thing is not entirely straightforward in Denmark, where seals are protected and the bureaucracy large.

- It gave us really sweated and worked both with us and the library's lawyers, for there were many agencies and government offices involved.

- Luckily it came the permit in house - and then the problem was getting a seal. We got one seal pup from Skagen, which had been euthanized on the beach due to illness. Alternatively we had an agreement with the Natural History Museum in Aarhus, which had a seal lying in the freezer – and which we could get if we failed to get one fresh seal, informs Pia Barlaj.

Project employee Pia Barlaj was in charge of the big event in Aalborg.

The little seal was not eaten after the flaying. Because something like that is not allowed in Denmark either. It literally goes up in smoke and turns into new energy. The seal became a pair days after Denmark's largest Kaffemik picked up by the company Daka SecAnim, there takes care of dead animals from the large Danish agricultural sector and recycles them for fertilizer, biodiesel and biofuel.
