Greenland Statistics' latest income figures document that the men earn 20 percent more than the women. In the series with the theme "Everyday heroes" from our national postal service Tusass is currently five out of six stamps with women.

The series started in 2023 with portraits of Alfred Olsen and Bodil Davidsen and continued in 2024 with Nanna Knudsen and Rebekka Olsvig. The two new stamps, published on 7 November, names Aviâja Egede Lynge and Aima Jensen as "everyday heroes'.

It is an internal group in Tusass which appoints "everyday heroes", and it is visual artist Lisbeth Karline Poulsen, who frames the heroes.

Women as role models

Aviâja Egede Lynge, born 1974, was children's spokesperson 2015-25, and her efforts can hardly be overestimated in a country which is unable to take care of the weakest.

Aviâja Egede Lynge, born 1974, was children's spokesperson 2015-25, and her efforts can hardly be overestimated in a country which is unable to take care of its weakest.

Aviâja Egede Lynge has traveled the country thinly during the 10 years to listen to children and young people, and her recommendations have reached out authorities, professionals and adults - and not least to the children themselves. She has stood behind a number of sensational reports that have cast a critical light on the authorities' efforts for vulnerable children. Most recently, she managed to recommend that there if a special complaint body is created for children, adapted to Greenlandic conditions, then children can have their rights treated in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Tusass explains the stamp: - It is a reminder of the importance of everyday heroes; people who may not always be on it biggest stage, but which nonetheless positively shapes society from within.

Aima Jensen, born 1991, is difficult to pin down because she constantly testing his own limits as a boxer, conscript, helicopter pilot, professional diver and hoist operator on board rescue helicopters. She has participated in the DR documentary series "Sled Patrol" and "The Arctic Rescuers", where she gives viewers a picture of the challenges that people in Greenland face encounters in a nature that both gives and takes.

Tusass justifies the stamp: – Aima Jensen represents a new generation of Greenlanders who balance between tradition and modernity, and which proudly passes on knowledge of nature, craftsmanship and survival in the Arctic - at the same time as she opens the eyes of the outside world to Greenland reality today.

The two stamps are the last of a total of 24 stamps from Tusass in 2025.
