Two people were stopped by customs at Nuuk airport on Friday, after they arrived on a plane from Denmark. They had both tried to smuggle hashish into Greenland.

- Customs finds hashish in certain people's luggage, where we then send police to the site to investigate and handle the case, says chief of police Aputsiaq Hansen to Sermitsiaq.

They found 200 grams of hashish in one person's luggage. The other person had hidden hashish in a makeup mirror, where 300 grams were found.

Both perpetrators have been charged, the chief of police says.

Sent hashish by mail

The police have also had another hashish-related case in the past 24 hours, the chief of police says.

The customs service has noticed something suspicious during their review of mail.

Hash was found, which was sent from Denmark to Greenland. The police are investigating the case and therefore cannot comment on the large quantities of hash that were found.

- We are still under investigation and based on that we are holding back a bit on the information, as we need to get a hold of our suspect, says Aputsiaq Hansen.

In general, it has been a busy 24 hours for the police, says the chief of police. They have been out to a number of incidents, including domestic disturbances, burglaries, vandalism and violence. Most of the incidents have been alcohol-related.
