At 10:22 a.m. on October 4, 2024, the police were called to Block 5 in Nuuk when a citizen found a 20-year-old man dead in a storage room.

Initially, it was called a suspicious death. It later became a sensational murder case. We will be ready on Monday morning when the case starts in Sermersooq District Court in Nuuk.

The prosecution believes that a 42-year-old man is guilty of the murder, and that his sentence should be placement in a psychiatric hospital in Denmark. But there are divided opinions on this.

– My client pleads not guilty, says defense attorney Marie Louise Frederiksen ahead of the trial.

A blunt object

Regardless of who killed the 20-year-old, the indictment says something about the results of the police investigation.

It says that the perpetrator hit the young man several times in the head and face “with a blunt object”. The cause of death was subsequent internal bleeding.

But it has apparently not been possible to find the exact murder weapon or the exact time of the crime. It appears that the crime occurred between 2-4 October 2024.

It is also interesting to note that we will only meet one defendant in the circuit court on Monday morning. There were two men who were arrested and charged with the murder in 2024.

We will return to this and much more after the court is set in Nuuk.
