The Self-Government will share information about landslides and unsafe slopes around Greenland with the population via a new interactive map.

The map will be continuously updated with new information, and so far 214 unstable slopes have been mapped and 42 landslides have been registered in the region between Upernavik Kujalleq and Ilulissat, in Nuup Kangerlua and in the region around Tasiilaq.

This is stated by the Government of Greenland in a press release.

Naalakkersuisut Múte B. Egede (IA) is pleased to be able to share the information with the public:

- The new map will help the population and authorities make decisions about activities in vulnerable areas. We cannot control nature, and we cannot eliminate all the dangers that may be associated with using the land, states Múte B. Egede and continues:

- But when we know about a risk, we can use that knowledge to not expose ourselves or others to unnecessary danger.

Maps can be accessed at this link, and if you have observed changes in nature or unstable slopes, you can report it at this link.
