Kangerlussuaq has formed the setting for an unusually busy afternoon on Tuesday, March 31.
Head of duty at the Greenland Police, Karsten Højrup Kristensen, informs Sermitsiaq that a report from a plane from Poland has meant that the police have been busy for quite some time.
- We had a tourist plane that reported a wish to land in Kangerlussuaq yesterday, as they had a passenger who had become ill and required medical treatment. The plane, which had 300 passengers on board, was from Poland and was on its way to Toronto, says Karsten Højrup Kristensen.
However, the plane did not manage to land in Kangerlussuaq as the crew had found a doctor among the passengers who could help the sick passenger.
Major power outage in Nanortalik
The police are also busy in Nanortalik and are extra visible in the cityscape.
A large part of the town of Nanortalik is still without power, while the entire town is without connection to both telephony and internet.
- The reason is that the storm in the south has caused a power outage in Nanortalik for several hours. The power was cut off at 02:30 on Wednesday night. Work is being done to resolve the problem, the duty officer says.
Smooth road leads to traffic accident
In Nuuk, several road users have probably already seen a car that has gone wrong in Nuuk's Nuussuaq district.
A driver has driven into a snowdrift on Wednesday night.
- It concerns a rental car, where the driver has driven into a snowdrift, probably due to slippery road. The accident occurred at the T-junction on the Qarsaalik road, where the car was driven at an unknown speed. The driver was able to leave the scene of the accident himself, and there are no others involved in the accident, says Karsten Højrup Kristensen.
