On Tuesday, Sermitsiaq met several politicians from the parties, who, as is tradition, have lined up along the road to the polling station in Godthåbhallen.

One of them is candidate Siumut Ane Lone Bagger, who had a dramatic start to the election campaign because she was stranded in Dubai due to the war actions by Israel and the USA against Iran.

What would you say about your election campaign when you look back?

- It has been tough, and it seems different this year because the foreign attention on us is great. I also hope that one day we can have an influence on who will be the head of government in Denmark. The most important thing is that we get the most for Greenland.

At the beginning of the election campaign you were in warm countries, and now you are here on election day – how does that feel?

- Yes, I was in Dubai when the prime minister called the election, and then the war started, which meant that I couldn't leave the country. I was down there for a whole week and was scared. I didn't really get to prepare for the election, but fortunately we came home unscathed, says Ane Lone Bagger and continues:

- You almost feel like saying that we went from one war to another, because it has been tough since I arrived. Now we just have to sit here for the rest of the day and hope for as many votes as possible, since the turnout for parliamentary elections is usually low. We need a strong foundation in the form of a massive majority from the whole country.

What are your plans for today?

- I'm taking it easy, greeting voters and trying to convince those who have doubts. We'll fight until the end.

Debutant: Election campaign has flown by

Also on the way to the polling station is Inuujuk Petersen from Demokraatit. This is his first time running and he feels the election campaign has flown by.

- I have personally experienced that time has passed very quickly during my election campaign. With all the travel, conversations and activities, it feels as if it has all flown by. It has been exciting, especially because it is my first time running. You have to have strength all the time and hope that things go well.

What do you remember when you first announced that you were running?

- Everything was new, but I also thought it was something to try because I have been interested in politics for a long time, although I had not previously imagined running. Then the election was called, and I prepared a little, but also felt that I did not need to prepare too much.

What are your plans for today?

- I've been looking forward to this day – finally it's here. I want to talk to the people I meet. I've been so busy during the election campaign, so I want to spend the day meeting people and talking to them. I really like that too.
