The taekwondo national team has been to the Czech Republic to participate in the Czech Open 2026, and the federation reports that it won two medals.
The championship has participants from 13 different countries and has offered strong matches, says the Greenlandic Taekwondo Federation in a press release.
The federation reports that Angutinnguaq J. Nielsen, after several matches and an even final, where he lost by just 1 point, secured a silver medal.
In addition, a medal was also won by Arnaaluk Frederiksen, who won several matches. She lost in the semifinals to the later gold winner but secured a nice bronze medal.
Inukkuluk G. Lennert fought a close opening match, but narrowly lost 3-2 to an opponent who later secured the silver medal.
Maasi E. Davidsen competed in a free match, where he met a European champion in the pool. Maasi delivered a good effort, but had to be beaten by the better opponent.
National coach Louis Nielsen states that the tournament has yielded great results:
- It is clear that the national team has raised their level. They are taking a lot of learning home and are now sharply focused on areas for improvement. When the national team lands back home, it will be about preparations for the European Championship, says national coach Louis Nielsen.
