The micro-bakery Iffiorferalak is moving – and opening a café

Vilhelm and Ivaluna Willumsen, entrepreneurs, will soon move their microbakery, Iffiorferalak, out of the old blocks on Ceresvej and into the new entrepreneurial park located at Blue Water on Qeqertanut in Nuuk.

Here they have purchased a total of six containers, from which they will continue to operate their bakery from April 1. The blocks on Ceresvej are to be demolished, and the couple must be out by March 31 at the latest.

- If we were to continue to be in the city center and rent some of the premises there, it would be really expensive, says Vilhelm Willumsen.

That is why he and his wife are happy about the opportunity to buy, remodel and furnish themselves in the containers in the new entrepreneurial park instead. Even though it is outside the center.

- We know that many of our customers have cars. But it is of course a bit disappointing for our customers who walk, says Vilhelm Willumsen.

He and his wife have gradually started to sort out the practicalities of the move. The containers have already been set up, and they only need to be rebuilt.

- We expect and hope that all our equipment and ovens can be moved on the same day, he says.

The bakery, which sells sourdough bread, sandwiches, cinnamon rolls and coffee, has been in existence for over a year now. With the new location, Vilhelm and Ivaluna Willumsen will have space for the café that they have been planning to open ever since the bakery started.

- We have bought recycled furniture, which is already in the containers, says Ivaluna Willumsen.

Whether the café, like the bakery itself, will also be ready to open on April 1st is uncertain. But they are hopeful.

- The most important thing is that production continues from April 1st, points out Vilhelm Willumsen.
